The book, presented during the 27th international colloquium of the International Research Centre for Late Antiquity and Middle Ages on the island of Rab, Croatia, brings together 24 stories of French historians of ancient, medieval, modern and contemporary architecture.
The volume, by bringing together the Ego-stories and the lives of French historians of Western architecture belonging to various generations, formations and institutions, seeks to answer the questions about the social, cultural, political and educational influences on the researchers’ careers and their beliefs. This introspection at the heart of the discipline thus enriches its social history as much as it testifies to a contrasting scientific reality.
